htop has been ported to Redox OS! I'm using it to identify performance bottlenecks.htop running inside cosmic-term on the left, ffplay playing Stargate SG-1 on the right.

Redox OS performance is steadily improving. Here is 1080p video being played on a 1440p display. Most of the CPU usage is software video decoding, with the orbital windowing system adding minimal overhead. A careful look through the CPU times can verify this. 1/2

Yesterday I went through a ton of issues with Redox OS on riscv64. I was able to get everything compiling and working but netsurf, which has unusual soft/hard float ABI linking issues. Here is cosmic-term showing screenfetch output.

I have ported X11 to Redox OS in order to start working on ports that have previously been too difficult. In the future, we will be rebuilding these with wayland. Here is TWM with gtk3-demo open on the left, the embedded GL example on the right, and xterm behind.

MPRIS and album art is implemented in cosmic-player now. Be aware your music files need to have ID3 data, which can be added if missing using MusicBrainz Picard. More features for playing audio files will be added soon.

I found out Balatro was using LOVE, so naturally, I had to port LOVE and check it out on Redox OS!
