UK spent more money than most countries on Covid pandemic help; ended with more sickness, mental health problems, life expectancy drop.

Looted in frauds, contracts for cronies.

Poor, already struggling suffered most.

Govts still fuelling inequalities, making the poor vulnerable.
Five years on: Britons among hardest hit by Covid fallout
Life expectancy, homelessness and young people’s mental health were among the areas where Britain performed poorly despite spending more than other countries

Poverty is most definitely a politival choice 😠😢
UK devotes a smaller % of its GDP to state pension, pensioner benefits than most developed countries..

2024-25: Govt spending £137.5bn on the state pension, pensioner benefits, 5.2% of GDP.

France spends, 13.5%.
Italy, 16.3%.

Poverty is a political choice.

Pensioner poverty in the world’s sixth largest economy is a political choice
The hardship inflicted on retirees now will surely visit future retirees unless steps are taken to alleviate misery.

This is DISGUSTING. Thousands of badgers are being slaughtered in the name of a cull that DOESN’T EVEN WORK.

Science has proven it’s ineffective, yet the government continues this barbaric practice.

I took part in the RSPB’s #BigGardenBirdWatch, and my top spot was the Tree Sparrow.
We are so lucky to have them (in adundance - and alongside their house sparrow friends! 😍)

Record jump in number of UK firms in financial distress.

Nothing is done to control cost of essentials - rent, energy, water, transport. These impact every business, can't shop around.

Govt must check profiteering, use public ownership to help businesses and people.

Public comments on Board of Game proposals are due by Dec 27 + there are several that target wolves. Some call for extending trapping seasons and one especially egregious proposal would allow ADFG to kill 73-80% of wolves in one unit.

What I hate about having written this book is the knowledge that some people who see the title will write it off as some shit "Remember the 80s?" pop culture nostalgiafest. I promise it is anything but. Neither is it the book it seems to be, 3 chapters in. But you'd need to read it to find that out.
