The default in software writing is “messed up” and it takes a deliberate effort to get things working well. It’s expensive. Apple used to see making that investment as crucial to their USP (which was: it just works as expected). Increasingly less so under Cook.

I am using Notes for everything. One main reason is that I can dictate hands free ideas while dog walking or gardening or whatever. But I never thought of having a backup in case Notes would do something like why it did to you. So researching that now. Thank you for waking me up to that. 🙏🏻

I think it’s getting practiced in coping, so the coping happens with less effort.

On the other hand, I am getting to the end of a 2 week holiday where I drifted into getting up late and with sunrise and from Monday I have to get back to go working in the dark, which will be a dark shock to my system. Maybe Xmas and new year should be in February? 😜

The incompetences of the Starmer government are obvious and pre 21stC would have guaranteed sharp change at the earliest opportunity, but the depressing bit is that all of the likely alternatives have already shown to be even less competent. Ie getting elected is now about the wrong competences.

The only reason it exists, still, after 70 years of coordinated efforts to the contrary (especially by the UN), because it is the only place where we can defend ourselves. That might not be a desirable life choice, we’re approaching again this being our only choice if we want to live.

Why do they own islands and build survivalist infrastructure there? ;-)

Yes, I got that he’s the exemplar and I agree with you on the long tail too.

I think the consequences of theses bad bets will be even worse and go beyond the investment part of the economy. And I suspect some of the key players want exactly that to happen.

It's exhausting.

I never thought I'd say this but feeling so bleak this morning, part of me wishes they'd cut the smokescreen and just admit they don't like Jews - in Israel or anywhere else. Embrace the racism. Stop pretending they're the good guys on the side of progressive values. Be honest.
