‘Thank you for your attention on this matter.’ Is how my local council closes out letters advising of bin collection changes.

Good to see it’s also useful to newly elected dictators in the suppression of free speech.

Addendum:
And the reason all of this would make a difference is that things like a minimum wage bump, universal pre k, Medicare expansions, etc are obviously popular and can be seen as such without having to message about it, hence making more voters feel Biden actually did something for them

2. M4A. Yes it technically is something Biden ran against in the 2020 primary but Kamala was a fucking cosponsor in the senate. That could have been her big picture policy, the one voters think of when they think Kamala. And it would have differentiated her enough from Biden to cinch a win

1. Build Back Better. Kyle Kulinski has said this and I 100% agree. If Biden had passed Build Back Better, Kamala Harris is President Elect right now. It is essentially a Social Democrat wet dream. 3.5 TRILLION bucks of tax and spend, higher minimum wage, PRO Act, etc

But only NOW is Biden willing to come out and talk to reporters about his redistributive, Social Democratic policy agenda of higher taxes on the rich, industrial policy, Keynresian spending, etc (MPU interview)

And both he and Kamala both missed out on 2 big cards they could have played

I think genuinely that on domestic policy, Biden is really damn close to as good as a singular presidential term can get with the resources and handicaps he had (Manchin and Sinema). Yes he could have whipped the dinos better and yes his foreign policy was dogshit but domestically, less so

I do think that their MESSAGING on these policies was absolute DOGSHITE

When a progressive from another country who's closest to Bernie Sanders in his political views is more willing and able to defend of some of the Democrat policy platform than Harris OR Biden, somethings wrong

Might be crucified for this but I don't think the Democrats' policies are necessarily the main reason they lost this election. Tbc that doesn't mean I support Biden's foreign policy or border policy or don't believe in progressive policies like M4A or lifting the payroll tax cap BUT

The precedent set today should upset every American who believes in our democratic form of government.

It appears that from now on no major legislation can be passed without the approval of the wealthiest person in this country.

That’s not democracy, that’s oligarchy.

✅ Yes to political campaign financing.
But we need other check & balances in our electoral system

✅ PR to ensure there can never be another ‘winner takes all’ result

✅ A written constitution with clear checks, balances & enshrined constitutional rights & Citizen Assemblies
Dear @keirstarmer2.bsky.social,

Please move the laws around political & campaign financing to the top of your list

Or…

Expect 1 term that ends in handing power of this country to a foreign billionaire proxy PM and his little puppet

Yours,

The people of this country paying attention.

As part of the EU, people could come across for jobs and know they can easily stay and leave when they want a job in a different member state.

Now if you're coming for a job in the UK, you're immigrating and staying 100%. A points based system means *higher* net migration. As we have seen. Stupid.
