This has always been the GOP's strategy:

1) Cut taxes for the wealthy & corporations by claiming they'll pay for themselves.

2) Explode deficits

3) Use the debt as an excuse to demand cuts to vital programs that help millions.

4) Repeat.

Sure, Sen. Booker set a record for the longest floor speech while standing on his morals—but let’s not forget Mike Johnson’s historic achievement: 74 days of silent mode and counting!

Shadow Surgeon General @vinguptamd.bsky.social giving you the advice you need
We spent nearly 8 minutes this morning trying to set the record straight on a number of health matters.

I’d expect the Surgeon General or NIH Director to do this, but since they’re not, here it is in 4 clips.

If only we had a body, one with democratic legitimacy and powers conferred by a Constitution, that had the authority to overrule a president who seeks to impose arbitrary tariffs and deport people who fled here to escape oppression.

It could be called the Congress of the United States.

There's a special rage I feel when I'm thinking daily about what I can do to fight authoritarianism and what risks it might mean, and then corporate decision makers with more money, power, and influence than I'll ever have cower and roll over for the regime like a bunch of terrorized dogs. 1/

Great info here, including for non-immigrants and a tip line to report ICE activity in Illinois.
Every family and child deserves to feel safe and secure in the place they call home.

Every resident of Illinois should know their rights.

I intend to protect those rights and ensure our state laws are followed.

Smith is not making the claim a jury would have convicted. He is restating the standard prosecutors must meet before they can indict, that he believed there was sufficient evidence to obtain & sustain a conviction. The decision is left up to the jury. Justice is done when they have that opportunity.

Tonight is the first full moon of the year and it is called the Wolf Moon. For native Americans it symbolizes resilience and survival during the harshest time of winter. Let us all have resilience in these harsh times, especially our sisters and brothers in California who we love.

Astute observation from my spouse after a weekend watching NFL games. A pregame moment of silence and plug for Red Cross donations after a disaster used to seem so perfunctory, establishment, even conservative. Now it seems like a brave stand against the moral wasteland of the incoming regime.
