Nice! There is a version of Shout by Tears for Fears that's like this, except without the pitch changes when it speeds up. Highly recommended. youtu.be/oHA-_Wtdwyg?...

This is maybe the most annoying thing about burnout IMO - a lot of the time it feels entirely unearned. Which is never *really* true, but it sure feels that way when you are exhausted despite having barely moved for days.

Yeah, for sure. Unfortunately this shit runs deep, and many people never end up in a position where they are forced to start questioning it. It's not helpful!

Tbh, we could all learn a lot from disabled folks and disability justice activists about the dangers of valuing labour/productivity above all else.

Oof I hope she's ok! Sending healing vibes her way 💛

For real. This chant goes out of its way to target the institution rather than the people, ethnicity, or religion, and yet it's still labeled intolerant.

Oh I very much hear that!

Gotta love when all the things hit at once. I like to think of this kind of thing as my body telling me to sit the fuck down 😂 It's not terribly fun, though. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm tempted to be mad at this (and probably should be), but "living with neurodiversity" is so hilarious that I'm laughing instead

My husband got me a Nana Visitor cameo a few years ago and I just about died

And I love that her Instagram is all like sweet life advice stuff. The auntie vibes are strong.

Yes, the cuteness levels here are extremely dangerous and may not be fit for human consumption

But of course, that's not about to stop me

It's nice to cast a wide net to capture a good variety of weirdos 😂

...Well. That and the shitposting. But even that is at its best when it's based on shared interests.
June 27, 2025 at 11:19 AM
Hell yeah! 💛 And, to be clear, no shade to the folks who want something different. But to me, the back-and-forth conversations that dive deep or explore shared interests or values are the most valuable and interesting thing that happens on this app.
June 27, 2025 at 11:19 AM
...happens (usually) when folks are actively looking for that and working to make it happen.

I feel like, as with any mode of communication, you get out of it what you put into it. Online communication *can be* really well suited to bringing people together via shared interests and shared circumstances, who would ordinarily be separated by distance or other circumstances. But that only...

Good point! I guess I was thinking about what AI apologists *think* they're getting out of it, or hope to get out of it - but you're absolutely right that it's not even actual independence. Just dependence of a different type.
June 27, 2025 at 10:35 AM
So much of the discourse is about AI breaking down barriers for people, but it isn't, really. It's just enabling us to ignore the REAL barrier, which is that we live in a society that makes true community care difficult. And in the process, it takes us further away from that goal.

1) The work lacks a human touch and is less interesting as a result
2) People miss out on the opportunity to help each other out, and build community in the process
3) We reinforce the idea that we must all be self-contained productivity machines capable of whatever task will help get the job done
