Exactly this!
I’d quite like there to be a couple of years compulsory national service, working as a delivery driver, or a hospital porter, or something, before anyone can become an MP, or a judge, or similar.

If the government really wants to scrap degrees which deliver no value to the UK and indeed have led to £ billions in damage to the economy and culture of the UK then it just needs to scrap the Oxford PPE degree and arrest everyone who has taken it.

Clacton has the ⬆️ no of families in England & Wales with deprivation in all 4 measures - employment, education, health, housing. Economic inactivity & low productivity are serious structural issues. Farage is ghosting Clacton for the kind of £ they can't begin to imagine while their kids go hungry

And I feel like this is the biggest problem with living in a patriarchy. That the absolute centrality of how we treat children is so little appreciated by mainstream discourse. Mainly women are doing the childrearing, squashed into the margins, while men masturbate over building bridges or whatever.

If we can’t love and nurture babies and children, then we are not going to be able to save the planet.

It seems to obvious to me that hate, fear, Trump and Putin, can’t save the world.
Love and connection might have a chance.
Everything we do to bring more fear-based control into children’s lives drives them, as future voters, to fascism and destruction.

How do you deal with that existential terror?
The person with the fear-based childhood looks for an authoritarian strongman, who will be strict and hurt people.
The person with the connection-based childhood looks for community and connection.

This is my grand unifying theory of everything, as it happens.
If babies learn through fear they will turn into a completely different person than if they learn through connection.
They will vote differently, they will behave differently in their adult lives. They will create a different world.
