I took a screenplay writing class in undergrad and the professor had us write the last scene of our script in like the second or third week of the class. She stressed the importance of writing TOWARDS something, even though we’ll undoubtedly change the ending later.

It’s a common concern! For me at least, the creative writing I do for work is very different from the creative writing I do for me. I talked myself into working on a short story for a few evenings instead of watching shows, and loved it (and now that story is getting published!)

If you have something you love so fricking much you could go on and on about it forever - come tell me about it. You’ll get 3 minutes uninterrupted, and then we’ll chat about it for a bit. I promise it’ll be fun.

And yes I know that I’m under no obligation to release episodes regularly or even make this show at all. It’s not my job. It’s for fun.

But I LOVE listening to people tell me about the things they love and sharing those conversations online. I love doing that regularly. I’m not ready to let it go.

“I Love This Thing So Fricking Much” is a passion project. I don’t have a team to promote it for me. It’s just me saying “Hi, please give me a half hour of your time. I promise it’ll be fun.”

I hate being a nudge. But if people don’t say yes and follow up on that yes, then there’s no show.

Good question! So far it seems that I don't necessarily have LESS creative energy. What I have is another excuse to not work on my novel. It's the same problem I had before, of convincing myself to use my free time to do this specific thing I enjoy, instead of the other things I enjoy.
