Uhhh, hi! It's me, Bookshop.org, a place to buy books online where every purchase financially supports indie bookstores instead of some billionaire.

my favorite part of bringing my mighty nein stickers to cons to fill space is the people who are animated-show-only now that look at caduceus and ask, "who's the pink guy?"

don't worry about it

Not a criticism but it's amazing to think about how many Star Trek stories have, at their core, the idea that some alien/entity/lone survivor is simply bored or lonely & wants someone from Starfleet/the Federation to play with them.

Right now not enough shows are about aliens with relatable ennui!

Lior is pan! They’re also polyamorous, happily married to their husband and wife, and have adorable children.

Shame they’re currently under a curse that keeps them from going home.

Barak would want to study it, from a safe distance. Malka and Lior would nope right out of there. Paz would stay but only to protect Barak. Shiri has already made friends with the carnivorous unicorn.
Hypothetical question. Even if your book isn't fantasy, what would your MC do if they came across a unicorn eating a carcass?

If I may vent for a moment - truly my least favorite part of podcasting is recruiting guests for the show. It’s an endless, thankless task.

Scripting and recording? That’s fun. Editing? Not the most exciting thing, but it’s a craft I’m proud of. Promoting and recruiting? That’s frustrating.

1. The benefit of a theatre isn’t just screen size - it’s the intentionality, the curated environment, the communal experience.

2. If screen size didn’t matter people wouldn’t pay a shit ton extra to see movies in imax, at cosm, or the sphere

My plans change all the time! But I need to have some goals to strive for in order to figure out what changes to make along the way. That’s what outlines/planning is for.
If you map out part or all of your stories, do your plans change? I’m a pantser so the most I do is a few chapters ahead, but they’re always changing #writingq #WritingCommunity

This year, I’ve been employed full-time in a creative writing role! The challenge has been finding time for my personal projects. I’m still learning how to manage that balance.
#pretendpanel, I hope you find today's question just as engaging as yesterday's, even if the emotions might be a bit more negative surrounding the question...

December 6th: What was the most challenging aspect of writing for you in 2025?

Barak is happy when he has a book to read. Paz is happy when she’s traveling. Shiri is happy when she’s up in a tree. Lior is happy when they’re with their spouses and children, or when they’re making fun of Barak. Malka is happy when she’s with Shiri and Paz.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

I feel like I ask about negative emotions a lot. So today tell me something that makes your character happy!

A small joy, like a sunset, a warm cup of cocoa, a good book, or time with their favorite person!

Why do I put off writing? When I'm actually focused and doing it, it's great. Today I've already done close to 3,500 words. Is it hard? Yes. Is it enjoyable? Also yes. Really need to get better about putting writing first. It's worth the effort, it's enjoyable, and I'm good at it.

One of my favorite Gizmo-isms is how if I get up to leave the room and Paige stays behind, he sits there on the floor and looks at me, then at her, then at me, then at her - like hey, humans, why are you in two places, what am I supposed to do now, it’s best when we’re all together #catsky

Today's box of weird wonders contains a book with familiar endpapers... wait, "Heffalumpsfalle"? "Wo der Wuschel nicht war"?

It's "Pu der Bär", which I am going to shelve near "Winnie ille Pu" (because of course I have Pooh in Latin as well as German).

Barak loves the wizards’ castle. And he believes if he works hard enough, he’ll earn their love.

Shiri and Lior each love their respective homes, and 100% feel loved back.

Paz’s beloved place was wherever her family was, but they’re gone now.

Malka doesn’t love or feel loved any place.
Today's random #Lovember #WritingPrompt for the #WriteSky #WritingCommunity:

What's a place that your character loves?
Do they feel loved back?
