The absolute best thing about writing about vampires is that it means I don't have to write about food because *I* am a terrible cook who does not care about food and I hate writing about it
I'm currently reading the only fantasy book I've ever read where elves are bad at cooking and the humans have cool enchanted cakes.

Anyway, how good at cooking are your characters?

#JanuaryWorldbuilders

There's no specific legendary weapons or armor, but there's much worldbuilding involved in weapons and armor.

Thalia's whip is the most prominent enchanted weapon used as a weapon.

I have armor made of books, melted down. These Synethian books were made of an...

#JanuaryWorldbuilders, do you have any magical or otherwise special/important weapons or armor in your world? What do they do? Is there lore or a story behind how they came to be? Has is always been special or was it made that way through some critical event?

In the Be Series, Sare is probably the best cook. She doesn't even need to taste the food. She teaches Gracelynn & Maybell, but Gracelynn gets a bit distracted at times. Elsbie also has been cooking since a young age & is really good at it.
Much to a lot of characters' surprise, Ari can cook, too.

Grocers would exist, as well as markets, but nothing quite as advanced as a modern Walmart. Still...

She'd start with a plan, zig zag through stalls, return to previous areas, then pay for more than she intended. Baskets might help her budget. Don't give this woman a cart.
Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters

Silly hypothetical today! Your character is going grocery shopping! What are they getting and what kind of shopper are they?

Organized list-maker? Impulse buyer? Forgets half the ingredients and has to go back?

Rowan is a horrible cook. She can burn rice black.

Ally isn’t a chef, but she’s decent. The best cook is Ty. Alec just avoids it completely.

How about we not get into a fight with Scandinavian soldiers in a frozen landscape. Foreign invaders trying that while going "we're bigger than you, back down" has a bad record.

FeBREWary

Featuring questions about potion-making, poison brewing, or even beer/other alcohol-crafting in our fictional worlds.

S: Fraï got handed out random food bought by Marisa (who is a Spirit, and also modern cities are new to her) and left without supervision, without baseline of what a meal is

her chief recipe sauce is a mix of chocolate, toothpaste, and tomato sauce, sprinkled with little sugar hearts

she loves it

Enoch has been studying culinary arts since the Bronze Age. He is arguably the best in any world.
At the opposite end of the spectrum, Ragheiyont is just learning what a quesadilla is.

Ezekiel had to provide for himself from a young age, so he knows how to cook a decent half a dozen meals. He doesn't "enjoy" cooking, but then again he isn't bothered by it.

Milos (dark elf): A couple of Home Ec classes do not a chef make; he lives off microwave ready meals and the staff canteen.
Alex (human): Grew up with the staff canteen; learned to cook out of spite and is excellent.
Simon (light elf): He can boil water? He hasn't burned down Jonathan's kitchen yet.

I have a whole god dedicated to brewing potions and alcohol, but I have too many projects and not enough time to host a prompt game.

Jack- Really quite good, as far as home-cooking goes. He enjoys the kitchen and his friends/family enjoy his cooking most of the time. He can be a bit niche, though, and not to everyone’s taste.
Charlie is so pathologically bad in the kitchen she can ruin a microwave burrito.

The Singing Woods' canopy is so dense that lakes with their own thriving ecosystems form on the surface. It's a wooded and fungal cave underneath.

Later, we meet a frog god.

Molly can't eat food that used to be alive, so, cooking? Nope! XD The closest she gets is fixing hot drinks from non-living ingredients (salt, vinegar, honey*, etc.)
