A reminder that @henrylienauthor.bsky.social released this book in 2025 and it's a much needed read about exploring other structures for fiction. It's eligible as Best Related Work for the Hugos and Best Non-Fiction for the Locus.
Highly recommend @henrylienauthor.bsky.social's book about Kishōtenketsu (the Japanese name for the classic 4 Act Eastern story structure).

Henry's slim book is concise & entertaining.
Should be in every writer's toolkit!

When FB released its first iPhone app (pre-Android), if you let it have access to your contacts, and then deleted the app, IT WOULD LOCK YOU OUT OF YOUR CONTACTS. Just take the info with it.

This company has always been particularly awful, even amongst tech awfulness.
Instagram’s former head of safety and well-being Vaishnavi Jayakumar testified the company had a “17x” strike policy for accounts that engaged in the trafficking of humans for sex.

“You could incur 16 violations and upon the 17th violation, your account would be suspended"

I agree with Catherine. These stories make a great double feature. Happy to share a TOC with her.
Come read my TOC-mate's story also out now with Short Édition!!! Coupled with "Lago das Estrelas", you'll get the full range of vibes for your reading today. 😁
I didn’t realized this had gone live but it seems that you can now read my flash, “What Happened That Night,” at Short Edition.

So sad we won’t be able to read this.
just sent ~270 form rejections for Fantasy Magazine - the mag is closing and issue 100 will not be published

Shingai & I felt this issue would be extremely important, particularly given the state of things in the US and the world

sending warmth & love to folks: keep going, keep shining!❤️‍🔥

How a mag reads through their submission queue is EXTREMELY subjective. It depends on organization-level guidelines and also sometimes even specific readers.

But I can dig deeper into how to we read through the queue at Augur—and why the queue number is mainly aesthetic.

FYI!!
If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

There's other "Smart" add-ons as well, but that's the one that reads your content.
