Always needing correct grammar and punctuation 👀
I find getting things a little wrong sometimes can add character to a narrator (fav reason), a character's speech, or even let me manipulate the flow of a sentence or paragraph. Perfectionism is great, bouncy sentences are better

More of a grammar rule because I don’t particularly know writing rules, but I don’t mind splitting infinitives because 1) it often flows better and 2) if someone calls me on it, it’s an excuse to talk about Latin 😅

I want to say about 8 years ago now, I was stuck writing through a section of a story I was working on where the main character was treated as crazy when he was actually seeing an evil entity.
And one of my closest friends to this day suggested I randomly throw in a purple llama.

This giant needle I found in my grandma’s sewing box! I know probably leather workers are familiar with that size but to me, who had only ever seen sewing needles, I was like 😲
And then it ended up inspiring like 50% of the magic system in my book + several plot points & a tragic backstory

I tend to just launch into scenes at a point that isn’t optimal for describing the surroundings and I have to go back and figure out how to work that in. It’s not the best approach from that perspective.
