Hadn't realised lots of trusts were no longer prescribing gluten-free food for coeliac kids.

My son is coeliac and his food is so much more expensive. We don't get on prescription because we can afford it but for a family in poverty that's a massive issue.

Clinicians warn of ‘shocking levels of ignorance’ over ‘cruel and risky’ decision to cut gluten-free prescriptions

Did you know many children in care move between placements with their belongings in a bin bag?

If you think they deserve more dignity than that here’s a couple of things you can do.

1. Offer unwanted luggage to your local social services department.

2. Buy bags from www.madlug.com/pages/story

Madlug was founded in 2015 by Dave Linton. A man whose only experience in the luggage industry was bags of enthusiasm. He was heartbroken when he learned that most children in care have their belongin...

My ex-student Jack published his debut, a Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week, barely a year after graduating from his BA! I’m v proud & it was a total thrill to pick his book up in Waterstones. If you know a smart kid who appreciates good writing & doesn’t scare easily, I recommend GLOAM!

Just trying to help a student. They love medieval literature and are interested in developing their creative practice to engage more with it. Have asked for examples. I’ll add these to the list - thanks so much!

Literary hivemind: suggestions for excellent creative work (fiction, poetry, other) that engages somehow with the history or literature of the medieval period?

Last night was the launch of Encounters with Jane Austen, a collection of essays, interviews, poems and short fiction about to commemorate the 250th anniversary of her birth. I wrote the book’s introduction to the book, which includes a short account of Austen’s life, work and legacies. #Austen250
