I know y’all aren’t going to believe this, but here in Texas, back in the ‘70s, Civics and American Government were required courses for a high school diploma. American Government taught us how our Democratic Republic works and Civics taught us what our duties as citizens within our government.
If we want to do this, people who believe in democracy need to start gearing up to run for school boards across the country ASAP.
When we survive this dark chapter and there are sane people back in charge, can we agree that education and specifically civics education to ensure an informed, educated citizenry will be a high priority?
