with BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA being out now, in a lot of ways I think as a film RTTT is less 'solid', less 'engaging' in comparison, probably because the former was made for theatres rather than being a 4-episode net anime, but in everything it stands for, I adore RTTT so so so much more

I say this a lot, but ROAD TO THE TOP is the single most spectacularly animated /anything/ i've seen in my entire life. theres cuts in this film that 100% have no reason to be the way they are but they just are because it just elevates those emotional moments so much further.

it's really fun stuff hahaha, I've been meaning to pick it up first chance I got since the line-up really intrigued me, and I wasn't disappointed! fcp's track was largely kawai doing a really funny summer-y version of traverse town

definite highlight for me was def the jizue arrange--sososo good

my favourite uma musume songs are ones whose lyrics and overall sounds are really heavily tied to the story, so hearing this song at the end really brought everything together in a way that just felt so right. can't really listen to this song without getting a bit teary 🥹

I really do love how ROAD TO THE TOP puts the trio between topro, ayabe, and topro in the forefront and has their relationship/rivalry as the main 'catalyst'. each section of this song is so beautifully tailored to each of their respective journeys, and it's so incredibly powerful.
