And talk to anyone who lives and works in a Schengen country, they’re fans.

You’re not wrong. Hidden from view was the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 which wasn’t voted on in Parliament under which Freeports and SEZ’s were set up, by Statutory Instrument
The only way the public can find out about them is via Private Eye.
Because they’re subsidised we can’t rejoin.

Their governments are historically opposed Digi ID Cards.

Yet their neighbouring countries have them. That’s why people want to get there

Rather than trying to copy Reform it’s not too late for Starmer to start projects for big (long term) change:

Restructure local government
Local taxes
Devolved powers
Full revision of central taxes
Abolish National Insurance
etc

Publishers’ editors are failing.
It’s the same with 21st century films at the cinema - unnecessarily long and too loud, and cars - unnecessarily long to too wide. wide.
The car thing is dangerous to life - especially pedestrians & cyclists, and causes congestion in towns.
