The way people invoke ethics that preach forgiveness and de-escalation and anti carcerality/anti punishment ideology out of context of the actually oppressive authoritarian systems of harm they were developed to counter, in service to powerful figures using privilege to do harm, is a real problem.

Mass student strike happening in #Montreal at Concordia university. After a vote, students have voted to go on strike to demand divestment from the state of Israel by the university. In the 1980s, similar struggles helped push for divestment from apartheid South Africa.
They filled the lobby before marching to every floor, disrupting classes.
Behind them, boarded up windows can be seen. These were smashed during a demo in late September that reportedly caused $600,000 in damages to the university, which has refused to divest from Israeli apartheid and genocide.
