I'm not a native English speaker, but I have to practice somewhere!
Look, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange, and Anne Bancroft are very talented actresses, and they are quite good in their respective films, but, would I give their spots to Cher in Mask, Norma Aleandro in La Historia Oficial, and Mia Farrow in The Purple Rose of Cairo? In a heartbeat!

Also, noted. Hopefully it works.

The Bishop's Wife (1947)

Not that it was a groundbreaking performance, but is it crazy for me to say that I liked Loretta Young's performance in this movie more than her actual Oscar winning performance that same year?

Random Oscar fact: only two women have been nominated in the Best Actress category for playing rock stars, Bette Midler for The Rose (1979), and Angela Bassett for What's Love Got To Do With It (1993).

Remember the Night (1940)

I thought this was going to be a comedy, I wasn't expecting a tender romantic drama 😭
I still liked it, though.

Loved it ❤️

As much as I love Ingrid Bergman in Höstsonaten (Autumn Sonata), I was even more impressed with her co-star Liv Ullmann. Needless to say, she'd be my #1 that year, too bad she wasn't nominated.

As I said some days ago, I'm feeling a bit festive this year, which is rare, so I'm taking a break from my Best Actress rewatches in order to watch some "Christmas" movies. Starting with:

Black Christmas (1974)

As for Joseph Fiennes, I swear he has to be up there with the best someone has looked in a film, MY GOD! Needless to say, he can get it, and I'd let him ruin my life 🥵

Shakespeare in Love (1998)

Rewatched it last night. When I became interested in awards season as a teenager, I read horrible things about this film on the Internet, so when I finally saw it, I was surprised that it was actually quite good. And I still think it's a good film.
