I was clearly trending toward being a moody goth kid by the time I was 13 and that Christmas I got a stack of CDs from bands that were aiming to be wholesome knockoffs of NIN/Ministry. Incredibly funny hail mary attempt even at the time.

When I was a kid my family would take me to Christian bookstores that had "if your teen likes ____ they'll like ____" charts in their music section to help concerned parents ween their wayward kids off of Nirvana by substituting DC Talk. I don't think it's going to work any better writ large.
