although I will say that if GPlates would just release as a flatpak I wouldn't be solving these problems in the first place

Been so involved with trying out new things with my new computer that I didn't notice that I've actually been much more productive creatively recently. I guess concentrating on problems I can solve (eventually) makes me feel better and more accomplished.

They're an extreme vulnerability that don't actually prevent kids from seeing adult material and punish the law-abiding citizen more than the lawbreaker

That's fucking astounding

I've been waiting for this album since right after I graduated high school

I would like to extend another hearty "go fuck yourself" to the Utah state legislature. No way am I giving my identity up to some untrustworthy third party.

VPNs suddenly have an actual usecase for the common person, though, so, I guess that's thing.

I've got music that I've had for two decades. Manga from back when you needed to download scans and translations. Movies that probably have fewer pixels in an entire MP4 than I currently have on my screen. PDFs for TTRPGs I don't play anymore. Writing that I've abandoned.

I'm half tempted to delete everything but the legal documents. How often do I even touch any of this? Will anyone ever look at any of it? Does it matter? I'll have plenty of space with the new drives.

Cleaning up all my drives and stuff in preparation for moving to move to a new computer. All these reminders of lost time linger. Games I bought but only played a few moments. Pictures I never finished. Code that never worked and never will. Somewhere along the way I've lost my spark.

For-profit age-verification providers are now pushing for "continuous biometric monitoring" — AI scans of your face, your voice, your behavior — while you're online to protect children.

Every session. Every website. Every keystroke. Monitored and recorded.

I don't think people understand how widely the Tumblr porn ban was applied. These vague policies that rely on interpretation can easily be used to ban whatever. Plenty of SFW content got killed on Tumblr in addition to the NSFW content. It hurt *everyone*
