The silver lining is that if I lose a million dollars on this case due to perjury, I will no longer have any qualms about recording literally every important interaction I have with anyone. I am so over people forgetting, let alone intentionally lying about, our conversations.

On the one hand, I hope to spend plenty of time finding a place for my next big project.
On the other hand, I may be subject to short deadlines for identifying and purchasing my next property to avoid six figure tax penalties.
Risk/reward is a tough game at this scale.

"everyone" "knows" that when you say "A has 10x more than B" and B has 100 then you mean that A has 1000.

What does "A has 1.7x more than B" mean if B has 100?

(This example was found in the wild and is not hypothetical)

Using various free-level AI services, six months ago requests for legal research produced 90% fake cases and 10% irrelevant cases.
Today across the board it's closer to 50% fake, 40% irrelevant, 10% real and relevant.
Still annoying to filter, but actually slightly useful.

There can be no constitutional right that I can pay you, random stranger, to exercise for me, but it's illegal for me to exercise myself.

After months of failing to find any precedent to describe this concept, I'm falling back on the 14th Amendment's equal protection clause.

Re-re-re-reading this court transcript, I notice the transcriber misheard "removed from residents" as "residence", and I think the judge did too. This tiny change seems to have led both him and the Appeals Court to think I removed someone from a house, not from a Discord channel.

The MA Appeals Court seems to think that me not explicitly citing the constitutional authority for part of my defense is a critical defect.

Is it too passive aggressive if I thoroughly cite my next motion? e.g. "a violation of my right to due process (U.S. Const. Amend. 14 §1)"

Anyone up for some proofreading of my amateur attempt at an appeals court motion for reconsideration? I'm not necessarily looking for legal advice, although that would help too. I'm more interested in whether I made any clear logical mistakes, or even just typos.

Home from another day in the law mines. 9-2 at the law library, 2-4 at the courthouse. I don't drive into the city every day, only when I need access to court personnel or westlaw/lexisnexis, but at this point doing legal research and drafting is most of a full time job for me.

"We received your claim, for faster processing, please sign and upload the attached claim form and requested documentation"

I didn't need faster processing, so I ignored this. They forgot to mention that the requested documentation was mandatory or my claim would be denied.

If the first amendment protects me publishing your words on your behalf, then it must give you at least that much protection if you publish them yourself.

I need to find some US or MA legal precedent on this general rights concept (not necessarily just first amendment).

Help?

Apparently there was a trend in the 70s of chopping the Honda Z series to fit in bus cargo bays. I've always wanted something street legal to carry like this, and I haven't found any modern cars the right size. Maybe I need to look at older smaller cars?

It always amuses me to re-discover that "blind baking" is the option where you can see the thing that you are baking.

Published my first npm package. Nothing big, just a Bun plugin to help me migrate one of my workflows from Rollup.

I feel like I knew someone proselytizing Bun a while back. Who was that?

Dumbest cloud dependency ever: Foxwell NT510 car code scanner produces scan result files. The USB port supports file transfer for firmware updates. But you can't download the scan files via USB. That requires wifi to send an email to yourself through their servers.

$900 estimate to repair the furnace means I'm doing things the old fashioned way for a week while I order the parts to do it myself.

I wrote a summary of the seven figure lawsuit situation that's keeping me trapped in Massachusetts. If you're wondering what to get me for Christmas, a lawyer would be nice.

New (very used) car has a sunroof that is stuck open. Repair requires removing the headliner. One of the steps of removing the headliner is to remove the footstep plate at the bottom of each of the four door frames. This is the sort of thing I hate about fancy cars.

My ex-tenant's felony charges for theft and assault against me have been joined by many more for breaking into and robbing another storage unit, carrying a gun and ammo without a license, etc. He's being held as a danger to the public pending trials. Hopefully they put him away.

It's common for defense attorneys in court here to enumerate the reasons the defendant is a person the law shouldn't apply to.

This week I heard one person described as a father of three, aged 7 months, 19 months, 2 years. Assuming one mother, she's been busy!

Today in the 7-figure lawsuit re selling my house: Final attempt to confer with the other parties on my next motions:
1. Strike, dismiss, or sever my co-defendant and their claims.
2. Judgment on the pleadings or summary judgment on the claims preventing sale of the house.

Today in criminal court: My ex-tenant (who is in jail) for stealing tens of thousands of dollars of my stuff and threatening and assaulting me. Me for being at the courthouse within 50 yards of my other ex-tenant with a restraining order against me, when we had a hearing there.
November 4, 2025 at 1:09 PM
Superior Court unexpectedly gave me a hearing date later this month. There's time before then to get some motions filed (the process takes weeks in this court), so I guess today is Motion Drafting Day!
(This doesn't advance the state of the case, that's still not til January.)

Canceling my January/February plans now that the big lawsuit has been delayed three more months. It sucks to not know whether I'll be free next spring or summer to make plans for then, even.
