Anyway I think I'm getting a Christmas tree this year and the origami theme is "butterflies." In the past I've also made ornaments, mostly modular, and I save them if they look nice, so every year I just add to the existing pile.

When this happened to me I basically combed all my physical and digital files (forms, photos, etc) until I found something where my license number was recorded. Maybe you took a picture of it for someone (landlord?) or wrote it down on a form that required it?
