This is a clip of what the max speed level in my jam game Rainbow Dolphin is like. The noise blocks are "pollution" that you have to avoid breaking. It gets pretty chaotic but I find it fun. When I recover from the jam I want to develop the idea a bit more. #FallingBlockJam

My #FallingBlockJam submission is Rainbow Dolphin. Flip and push blocks to form rainbows, as a pink, blue, yellow, or green dolphin! I had fun exploring quirky mechanics and thinking about dolphins: sparsevector.itch.io/rainbow-dolp...

The game is more fun with the pink dolphin sprites. I want to make the dolphin color selectable, but it might be pink-only for the jam version (priorities).

Made good progress on my #FallingBlockJam entry today. Slowly starting to feel like a game as I add more visual feedback and tune stuff. Still lots left to do, most importantly making dolphin sprites 🐬

Day 4 of the jam and the blocks keep falling. Today I added DAS and a "DASh" button to the controls, a basic HUD, and worked on music. I'm still delaying sprite work until I finalize the block size, but I have a plan 😅

#FallingBlockJam Day 3! Still working out mechanics, very placeholder everything. My idea is you are a dolphin pushing and flipping stacks above the water to form rainbows. The challenge is efficient movement and managing "coyote time". Still early, but I think there's promise.

Day 2 of Falling Block Jam! Everything is placeholder as I'm still testing a concept. I still haven't finished implementing the controls, but I can confirm that blocks are falling!

Took a trip to the Mimms Museum of Technology and Art in Roswell, GA. It's a really cool collection of old computers in a former Burlington Coat Factory (!?) Incredible source of retro-future art reference.

Steam sale pickups! I have an endless wishlist so I tend to genre hop. This season it's mostly FPS!

Tetrachroma passed a magic sales threshold and is no longer 'Profile Features Limited'! You can now show off your Tetrachroma achievements on your Steam profile 😎

Tetrachroma's cheat code update is live! This update adds a new 'cheat code' screen that lets you change board size, rotation system, and more!
March 24, 2025 at 10:38 PM
I'm working on a new Tetrachroma update adding cheat codes to the game! The cheat code menu lets you mix and match modifiers to play modes in new ways. This is CHAOS mode with a 5x10 board (a.k.a. BIG CHAOS).

The event also has a Tetris panel! I'm demoing in another room so I might not get to see it 😭
February 27, 2025 at 11:08 PM
This Saturday, I'm demoing Tetrachroma in the @wreckcon.org indie game showcase at Georgia Tech! The event is free and open to the public. I'll be running a high score challenge and giving away keys! (Sleeping cat not included.) wreckcon.org

Picked up Reaktor in the Steam Couch Co-op fest. This is a cool radial stacker with a very interesting chain reaction mechanic. Setting up the chain reactions feels like doing a secret grade pattern in Tetris. It's fun! store.steampowered.com/app/2950640/...

The update adding custom music support to Tetrachroma is now available! Different music gives the game a totally different vibe and its fun to mix things up.
January 14, 2025 at 3:34 AM
The next Tetrachroma update will include custom soundtrack support! I think this is a great feature for puzzle games that can be played for a long time. I'm testing it with Kimiko Ishizaka's public domain recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations.

These were my Steam sale Christmas gifts for myself. I'm in a shmup mood! Blue Revolver and Devil Blade are super slick and accessible. G-Darius is wildly creative and perfect vibes. Loving them all so far!

Tetrachroma is on sale! It's 20% off in the Winter Sale, so you can buy the tetra game for tetra dollars.

Hot Wax is an extremely creative and polished stacker from @punkcake.club that released today on itch (Steam version also coming)! My first impressions are that this game is awesome! punkcake.itch.io/hotwax

Thanks to everyone that played TETRACHROMA at Anime Weekend Atlanta! It's very fun (and valuable) for me to watch players learn the game. An extremely skilled player cleared the marathon mode on their first try 👀 It was so cool!

Surprise! I'm demoing TETRACHROMA at Anime Weekend Atlanta! It starts tomorrow! Big thanks to @indieclusteratl.bsky.social for putting together the event's indie game showcase. If you're going, come say hello!

Today's Tetrachroma update adding 'synchro moves' to ARCADE mode is live! It's based on the classic frame perfect mechanic, but I've adapted the idea a bit to remove the framerate dependence. It's a subtle mechanic, but adds surprising depth (also looks cool).
December 10, 2024 at 8:10 PM
Still working on this and currently considering if all the modes should have synchros or just ARS-like modes. Synchros may make things too floaty when paired with SRS kicks. For example: s and z pieces can climb stairs at 20G with SRS kick auto synchros. I'm not sure if that's good or expected?
December 9, 2024 at 12:27 AM
Experimenting with a variation of the synchro mechanic from Tetris: the Grandmaster. This lets you rotate and shift a piece 'mid-air' within the same 60Hz frame.

I adapted the idea to high refresh rates with a 'synchro window' and added a sound effect. Still testing, but seems cool!
