Of course, there are a lot fewer minimum wage workers than there used to be.

In closing, i see that Tyler has freed up some more time to watch neo-Nazi cartoons on Twitter. Good for Bates.

I’m having a very difficult time bridging the gap between the Harpster’s description of the show and what he reads as the implied message.
November 26, 2025 at 11:52 PM
Not sure he really qualifies as either at this point but let’s pretend Smith is emblematic of the sort of “liberal” who enjoys this. I wonder what self-professed “leftist” could bring themselves to enjoy nakedly racist agitprop? Who could possibly find this funny?

Lmao he follows that by admitting here that it was not technology which allowed Limbaugh to flourish, it was the end of the fairness doctrine. Also extremely funny that his evidence for “liberals and leftists enjoy this” is just Noah Smith.
November 26, 2025 at 11:48 PM
Yeah man, nothing says early adopters of technology like Rush Limbaugh (talk radio had existed since the 1930s) and Tucker Carlson (the Young Turks had been streaming politics shows since 2005)
November 26, 2025 at 11:44 PM
Like, do we really think that even on Twitter 1.7 million people are watching racist Quibis about Will Stancil? Or might these numbers, which are not externally verified, just be completely made up.

The counterpoint is that 1970 is somewhat cherry-picking for the postwar peak, and the main reason real wages haven’t risen by much since then is that they fell from 1973 until about 1995. Since then, they’ve gone up pretty steadily.

That is not how I read that conversation, which seems to largely beg the question about why it’s time for the Jedi to end. Nothing about light and dark, nothing about fate, just “those books are boring, Rey will figure it out on her own”

This is a pretty good statement that mostly dodges giving trump credit for anything. I would have added “expressed” to “desire to help” but otherwise it’s just saying that Zohran wants to work on affordability and a lot of people voted for trump in 2024 on that basis, both of which are true.

He actually did say nice things about her! And she got the tariff exemptions she wanted! It was just a complete failure of performance in front of cameras she didn’t expect, after she’d said some overly conciliatory stuff in the press.

It’s sort of funny how, despite the Xorneto twist being in Morrison’s October 2000 pitch, none of these ideas underlying it were. Funny what one discovers in the artistic process.

Millar’s ultimate quicksilver was pretty great, possibly because the baseline level of dickishness in the ultimate universe was so high that he didn’t come off as poorly.

I remember when he came out to Seattle to take in an MLS game, concluded that the majority-white crowd (Seattle is 67% white) was a sign of racism, visited no other MLS stadiums, and then criticized the national media for focusing so much on white people in their coverage.
