Charity becomes a GoFundMe competition of the most appealing causes. Cute stray puppies over hungry inner city families, that sort of thing.
Meanwhile if government handles it, at least you’ve got professionals taking the entire system into account vs operating on gut and whims.

The problem, of course, is that if you think drug users are lazy/weak, then you won’t want to fund needle exchange programs, even if that would have positive knock on effects for a local school, for instance.

Noticed that liberals think people are fundamentally greedy, and conservatives think they’re fundamentally lazy. Which is why the former wants government to support people and the latter wants to do it via charity, so they can personally make sure “lazy” people don’t get “handouts”.

Well I mean it’s not rhetoric, it’s uncomfortable fact. I think nothing is going to get better before we can help other white people accept and agree on a shared reality with facts like these.
Facts shouldn’t be offensive, they are a necessary starting point for any change.

I’m white, and factually more white people voted for all this than any other group.
Therefore I think it’s more helpful to have the focus be on white people actively convincing other white people to stop supporting this vs stopping at “well I wasn’t one of them”.

I literally read your publication only for the political commentary that I surprisingly could not get anywhere else. Baffling that you’d want to kill the goose that was regularly laying you golden eggs. Certainly not a financial decision, therefore what? Fear?

They do not care what any Democrat says. They have the power until Democrats actually DO something. There is no skewering by someone whose respect you do not need.

The fucking irony of a party themed on The Great Gatsby - a novel they’ve obviously never read.….
The fucking irony:
“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy - they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”
