Currently spinning at 33 1/3 chez Squonk: "Ancient Heart", Tanita Tikaram. And I always loved this cover photo very nearly as much as the music.

I first heard Nick Waterhouse play this on Loose Ends (BBC R4) a couple of years ago. I fell in love with the feel of this, and the bass work. So solid, so chill.

And what an amazing album cover!

Found my CD copy of Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick's "Life and Limb". Bought at a gig, #Leicester Spread Eagle around 1990/91. I'd forgotten that Swarb signed the inlay. That was the night I gave him a lift home along the M69 after the gig in my rickety Ford Fiesta.

I really want to make it out to as many of the "Up The Duffy's" gigs as I can this year. So, first one tonight. Fantastic night of music provided by Be Cky, Autumn Dawn Leader, Bad Toaster and Heather McDowall. One photo from each act is attached here.

Currently captivated by this album from Edward Givens.

Steampunk Symphony : edwardgivens.bandcamp.com/album/steamp...

I bought it on the strength of hearing his track "White Stag" on the album "Affinity" & also the beautiful album "Snow Globe" which conjures a wintery soundscape without clichés.

My postie just arrived with a big bundle of mail including a package from @hartshornmusic.bsky.social containing no less than 3 CDs. Looking forward to giving these a spin 😁 One of them I've already listened to thanks to digital downloads. Love Bandcamp! Thank you so much Andrew! 🫂

It finally arrived! Affinity on vinyl. My second album cover, but my first time on the front of a vinyl LP sleeve.

A fantastic album which I feel honoured to have played a tiny part in.

Available on CD, download or vinyl here :

Been a while since I've listened to this one. "Pink And Black" got me rocking along nicely again.

Robert Plant, "Shaken 'n' Stirred".

Yeah, I couldn't resist popping this on next 😁 #JoniMitchell

Made space for more of my record collection in the living room, so I've brought a few more downstairs from ontop of my wardrobe. Including this, right up there amongst my favourite live albums. #Rush , A Show Of Hands. A band I'm so grateful I got to see live.

Spinning something of a classic this evening.

Tanita Tikaram, Ancient Heart.

Currently spinning, a prized item in my collection. Always loved this remix of Sledgehammer. Right now on the extended version of Biko on side 2.

And it sounds as amazing as it looks! (Audio removed to avoid copyright issues, but it was picking up the sound from my open backed Sennheisers. Like I said "give it a blast"..!). Wonderful job Russ & all of you! Big advantage of buying vinyl via Bandcamp: get the download too, best of both worlds.

Glad I got my pre-amp "issue" sorted, this beauty arrived today. Ltd edition splatter vinyl of @finalcoil.bsky.social's magnificent "The World We Inherited". With a hand written "thank you" card, which I really appreciated. Looking forward to the alluded to next project. Now to spin this bad boy!

I bought this a few days ago but needed a bit of time one evening to dedicate to a proper listen. Really enjoyed it, hints of Vangelis at times maybe? Andrew Hartshorn, “Sketches For The Requiem”.

I’ve enjoyed lots of great music from this label over the last couple of years.

So here's the song, 'Sentinel' playing from the Nigel Mazlyn Jones album "Sentinel & The Fools Of The Finest Degree", played from a FLAC file on my NAS using Plexamp. Captured from my original vinyl copy & cleaned up using VinylStudio. It's a bit of a labour of love, but worth it in some instances.

Another dig through the vinyl from the top of my wardrobe. Revealing my folk phase late 80s / early 90s. Vikki Clayton, "Lost Lady Found", signed by Vikki. I particularly loved her work inspired by John Clare poems.

I'm fairly likely to have been wearing my distinctive leather jacket that night. Very small chance you might remember seeing it but people used to remember me from gigs all over the place because of it 🤣 This photo dates to around the same time. Painted by my mate Stu.

And guess who'd tucked his copy (complete with beer stain on the front page, you can see part of that in the top left corner of this snap) into the cover of the eponymous album? 🤣😎 It might have been a while until I found that. Seeing your copy prompted me to check.

This note is from the back of the 1991 eponymous album. Also, "send s.a.e to"...😃

New Year's Day: further exploration of old vinyl. Right now "Sentinel" by Nigel Mazlyn Jones. Suspect I bought this at a gig at Leicester's Spread Eagle around 1990 (?) but no real memory of it other than admiring his guitar technique. A side "Sentinel", B side "The Fools of the Finest Degree".

Having so much fun exploring LPs & 12" singles I've not played in decades. I just popped this out of its sleeve & discovered it was on purple vinyl. Again, I've probably not spun this in around 30 years.

Digging around a bit to find my vinyl copy of this one this morning. I've not listened to it in 30 years. And now it's spinning I can only think that was because it was stashed in a cardboard box ontop of a wardrobe.

Mike Rutherford, "Smallcreep's Day".
