Did a writing retreat this weekend and wrote 18k on a novella project! It will need a lot of fleshing out in good time but for now I'm really pleased with getting so much of the skeleton in place.

this is how I worldbuild; if it's not plot-relevant I probably haven't thought about it much or at all. if I ever need it, I'll sort it out then.
Most modern fantasy writers would answer this question, whether or not they'd given it much thought. Sapkowski flatly will not and resents you asking him about it

The project I'm currently working on has alternating POVs. I've been strictly keeping each section 1000 words each, but I think I need to run longer to capture a full scene this time. Frustrating but it can be cleaned up later, or I can let the sections get longer as long as they stay balanced. Hmm.

Selfpubbers - how do you square the circle of knowing you won't sell enough to cover freelance editing costs? Do you self-edit and hope for the best? Trade editing with someone for another skill you can offer in exchange? Just accept that writing = a hobby done at a loss? Been stuck on this lately.

A two-rejection day; one was a form rejection but the other one was very kindly personalized and mentioned that the story had made it all the way to the final cuts, so that was nice to read. Kinda bummed out but we persevere.

There are some other presses with November-December windows I'd like to aim for too, both speculative-focused, but I'm not sure if the ms that's ready is the right type of thing for either of them. Might shoot the shot with one and not the other, we'll see.

Okay there's a small press with an open reading period in November that I'm going to try for with the wwi book. A month to get it polished up, that's doable.
