Readers abandon when:

A) Pacing dies (80% of quits)

B) Characters feel fake (15%)

C) You explain too much (5%)

D) They get bored (wait, same as A)

What kills YOUR reading momentum?

My first serialized thriller on Substack didn’t work the way I hoped.
This post breaks down:
• what went wrong
• what I misunderstood about serial fiction
• and how I’m fixing it going forward
If you’re writing or publishing fiction, this might help.

Amazon just rolled out a Kindle feature called Ask This Book 🤖📚
Readers can ask questions and get AI explanations inside the book.
Not quotes. Interpretations.
Authors cannot opt out. Cannot see answers. Cannot correct them.
Is this innovation… or AI quietly rewriting meaning? 🤔

Instagram: “Write your novel from Bali” ☀️🍹

Reality: Laptop on the beach = three grains of sand in every key 🏖️⌨️

Actual writing location: 2 AM kitchen table. One eye on the snoring dog 🐶 The other twitching from the 8th coffee ☕

Writers, where do you actually write?👇

Would you still write a story if readers saw it one chapter at a time? 📖
Serialized fiction requires patience and trust on both sides.
Do you enjoy writing in episodes or full stories?

I wrote a novel called The Girl Who Lived.
It is about a five year old girl who is sold to a religious ashram.
While writing it, there were scenes I had to step away from because they felt too real.
The book releases in 15 days.
This story stayed with me. I hope it stays with you too.
