In other words, alt text and the alt attribute predate the slog of A.I. technology. Alt text predates every single social media platform. Alt text has been a standard and best practice for quite a while. Insinuating alt text is just a tool for A.I. scraping is ignorant of history and accessibility.
Some are suggesting you deliberately write inaccurate or confusing alt text, because they say this confuses AI scrapers that are analyzing images.

The purpose of alt text is to help people who cannot see the image. Deliberately misrepresenting the image is a gross misuse of alt text. Don't do it.

AI isn’t going to take my job; it’s going to make it less enjoyable. I need to consider another career change. Something that involves using my hands.

Cool. @github.com is removing a feature I actually use. Probably so they can enshitify it with more AI. github.blog/changelog/20...

My patience and bladder can’t handle a meeting that’s more than 45 minutes.

First day back from an 8-day vacation. 489 unread Slack messages, 33 unread emails, numerous tickets I would rather not count, and… I watch my cat sleep on my desk for 30 minutes.

I made a super janky light box… er, tube from LED strips and scrap paper for taking portraits. Not fancy but it works.

To companies and organizations thinking about doing a design contest, just don’t. Hire a designer. If you’re a nonprofit with absolutely no budget, find someone to volunteer their time.

I love looking at carburetors. They’re simple, but complex. A fella I know got a new snowblower. He missed the old one, but he couldn’t get it running. With a bit of work, I got it running again. The carburetor was clogged and corroded.

Somehow, I need to combine my interests in web development, typography, and small engine repair into a career.

The joys of owning motorcycles in a country that is not on the metric system: I spent hours going to multiple hardware stores to find a bolt. I ended up special ordering one. If only the US had followed through switching 50 years ago.

I’m writing documentation for a project…
