“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’” - MLK

Loves USA Swimming, books, and Taylor Swift
And Love You Forever is so apt for this mom & daughter duo. They only have each other, just like the mom & child for much of the book.

(ikr I give books when I could’ve given a personalized blanket or transitional object. Like I said, I haven’t figured this out & I’m always pressed for time sadly)
I still haven’t figured out gifting for babies. My friend’s daughter is 8 months old & this is what I got for her. I think Cal the Palm Pal works cause it’s a sensory plushie w/ upper part that’s soft & lower part that’s made of pellets. As for the book, I just think she’ll grow up to understand it.

Heartbreaking
Tatiana Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, had just given birth when she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. She writes about her fear of adding another tragedy to her family’s life. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/CLpbsb

Read to your kids 📖

No kids? Read to your friends’ kids.

No friends with kids? Make a friend—preferably one who comes with kids to expedite the operation—and start reading!

It is imperative that children are read to ☝️

Last week of afterschool for fall. My student Maddie gave me a handmade bookmark! 🤍

Many thank yous were exchanged, and the chair said they’d include the Enchanted Lion books I got in the curriculum this coming spring.

Writing a letter to my friends’ children and telling them to find that boy in every page of Animalia.

Too early but happy holidays lol

Great speech on cinema!!!

We have to thank Chicago for this Augustinian Pope, MJ, and @barackobama.bsky.social and NOT thank Chicago for Kanye West unfortunately.

we Catholics have done a lot to shame ourselves and damage the world. But we also knock it out of the park sometimes!
Some inspiring words on cinema in the streaming era from the Pope.

Yes, THAT Pope.

Hey @bsky.app, please make the app safer by giving us the option to retroactively apply interaction restrictions to all skeets in one go. Just restricted interactions across my skeets, but I had to go through them one by one. Please, tysm.

Almost the end of the afterschool program term. Gonna miss these little people!!!

6…7…6…7…6…7 and my little soda pop 😂

Just wanna remind them of this Jesuit prayer which I’m sure they already know:

“Lord, teach me to be generous…”

I can go on and on.
Craziest when Catholics especially those with Jesuit education flat out choose to starve the needy. Ignatian spirituality teaches us to be men and women for others. Were they absent when that was taught in their elite Jesuit prep school in DC?

My afterschool program students have a joke: “Louise writes in 2 languages: English (a.k.a print) & cursive.” I show them both. They’d erase the print & figure out the cursive like it’s a riddle. I write in cursive cause I went to Catholic school in the PH where it was the only handwriting allowed.

Name as many P things you could see here! I could remember giving this book to my mom friend whose son’s name is Mateo. So she immediately checked Letter M, and we started naming M things. Made me realize we enjoyed it more than Mateo that day. To be fair, he was only 2 that time lol. #booksky
My other fave is Letter P! The book is a visual feast. This is the first time I’ve purchased the 30th Anniversary Edition. Highly recommended AND please get it from @bookshop.org to support indie bookstores!!!

Another book that I would give my friend’s children is The ABCs of Inclusion. Written by Beth Leipholtz whose son Cooper is deaf. (My friend’s middle child is also a Cooper!) This book introduces readers to 26 differently abled kids.

Books from @bookshop.org came today! As a serial aunt of 3 boys & later 2 girls, I refrain from gifting toys. It creates problems for mom & dad cause kids would like to play w/ the same toy at the same time or would think the other’s toy is better than theirs. Books, though, are read with everyone.

My wildest take and it shouldn’t be is this: there is enough if we share.

That’s all.

When I said breathtaking, I really mean breathtaking, as always with Enchanted Lion. Received them yesterday, read and took them all in the whole night, didn’t get to take more pics as I was too excited to bring them to the afterschool today.
Look at these beautiful breathtaking @enchantedlion.bsky.social books!!! This is for the library of the afterschool program where I volunteer. Thank you, Enchanted Lion!!!

Have you ever loved a sport so much that it’s such a spiritual experience to watch the greatest of all time?
She paused to ask for my name & sign my copy of her book. Told her “I love you. I’m your biggest fan!”Hahaha the lifeguard: “You’ve really waited long for that.” Fucking sure. To be inches away from her and see her do all the strokes! My soul has left my body. Gone to heaven. I haven’t come down.

Not ideal to make distance swimmers swim the 200FR. Just watched the World Champ did one. He ended in 5th. Painful to watch! But he smoked everyone in the 500FR. Also, an Olympian did the fly events, won them all like he didn’t just come back with a WR from the World Cup. A fucking swimming machine.
