The point of timeskip is jumping forward in time to leave out unimportant stuff, but never important developments and events. Also the change being shown after the event, is lazy and doesn't help us connect with them. Good stories would have shown the change and then jumped in time, like SV DLC's.

Which is a bad way to tell a story. Real time is better and flashbacks work best, when they influence the present, like Pagogo's story, but not arc 4's aftermath. Mystery shouldn't excuse leaving out vitally important info like why our heroes quit something, show us why they changed in real time.

And then,a summary-flashback (worst timeskip writing) showed us that she and the RVT tried to get him back and failed, then declared their adventure somehow over, despite spinel and Laquium being around. Also they showed little to no emotion after the fact. Unmeaningful and senselessly bad writing.

And sorry for this lengthy response, but there is just too much wrong with HZ now. Too much wrong...too much development is in between the time jump and the ones we see is unearned and stupid, especially Amethio somehow missing without any foreshadowing. It makes no sense.

HZ is a prime example of how to never time jump and Liko's regression into a weak and depressed girl was also unearned,because she learned not to give up. Why after Laqua? It made no sense with her previous decisions and I expected the search for friede, so they could have done better work...

If you have a story with friends who face a tragic incident, argue and then split up, and one year later, things got worse; this is how it's done. HZ instead had the incident and then did the jump, leaving meaningful and important info and development out, thus making us feeling left out.

No it's horrible writing and unmeaningful. They set no expected trends, no foreshadowing and no justification for any conclusion that he would make this development. Unlike what the defenders want to make you believe,all of the development after arc 4 is unprecedented and unmeaningful:

I mean, since when was Adh empathic enough to be a pokemon master. He was in the emotional world rather clueless despite his good heart.
Liko had a chance, but given how HZ treats her...she pretty much fell hard as well.
Lucius is the closest thing to a Pokemon Master now, no contest.
