DEFRA has just published a consultation on solid fuel burning. We're happy to see a long-term campaign ask addressed - warning labels on stoves. However, the proposals will only impact future emissions; they will do nothing to help all those affected by existing burning. #CleanAirNight #WoodBurning

"The smell of a warm fire, which many people find comforting, brings me so much anxiety, because all I can think is what it's doing to the health of my loved ones."

Thanks for taking part in our #CleanAirNight poster campaign Chloe. Much more needs to be done about #WoodBurning in the UK.

How can replacing fireplaces and older stoves with modern Ecodesign wood burning stoves, help provide cleaner air, when the NAEI data clearly shows that 22 pollutants of 53, would be higher?

It’s #CleanAirNight! Did you know that wood burning is the most polluting way to heat your home? Wood burning smoke produces fine particulate air pollution (PM2.5), which enters your bloodstream when inhaled and can cause heart & lung disease, as well as increase your risk of diabetes and dementia

It's #CleanAirNight. Can you rethink burning, tonight and beyond?

Wood burning creates tiny particles of pollution (including soot and carbon) that lodge deep in our bodies and make us sick. This doesn't just affect the household burning, but their neighbours, too.

How much #AirPollution is created when you burn wood?

👉 Defra approved/#Ecodesign stove = 400 times more polluting than a gas boiler.
👉 Open fire = 4000 times more polluting than a gas boiler.

Please think twice about burning if you don't need to.
