Quick Copy Parchment

Wondrous Item, rare

The method to create Quick Copy Parchment is a secret, closely guarded by the greatest forgers and spies in history. A seemingly normal piece of parchment only distinguishable by a slightly blue magical sheen.

Once per day, you can place the Quick Copy Parchment on a surface containing a map, etching, painting or any form of writing; making an exact copy the information on it’s surface. This copy is unaffected by any illusion magic altering the original’s appearance. The Quick Copy Parchment will hold an image for up to 24 hours before it fades. While the copied image appears on this item, it can be altered using magic or forgery skills.

As an action, you can place the Quick Copy Parchment on top of non-magical parchment and speak the activation word, permanently transferring the image, in its current state, to the parchment. The image on the Quick Copy Parchment will fade immediately after.

Do you have a city encounter for your players and need a battle map? Perhaps something at the docks? Try using this one.
As always, my maps are free for personal use.

A city dock. There are two large ships getting supplied loaded from a wood dock. A canopy tent set up on the dock for the dock master. There is a city warehouse just off the dock, with rows of boxes and barrels. There's a general store that sells a variety of adventuring supplies. A Tavern that has candle lit tables. Several vendors line the street, they have colorful canopy tents set up.

I can understand wanting some of those “oh yeah, this guy’s gotta go” moments, but the amazing stories and decision making that comes with complex villains and criminals is the absolute best

IMO, #ttrpg criminals should be complex. Some can be outright evil, others should make players question if they have a point and yet others should be genuinely good people that your players want to help.

Makes the game more dynamic And the players think about how they affect the world💙

Tip for the GMs, writers, and worldbuilders out there...one that is very pertinent to the current political climate;

Criminal does not mean evil.

You really need to bear that in mind when you write criminals. Being in conflict with the law does not inherently make someone evil.
