The only thing that's changed since I wrote this a year ago is that journalism is now one victim of a comprehensive government assault on civil society. We need to be fighting. The idea that journalism can sit outside of politics gets more ridiculous every day.

If you are not angry at President Trump's executive order attacking the Smithsonian Institution you are not an American. This is a blatant attempt to rewrite history, to whitewash the past to describe an America that never existed. This happens in autocratic states, not in a democracy.

10 years ago, when I introduced a bill to make public colleges & universities tuition free, it was called "radical." Not today. Over 100 colleges & universities now offer free tuition to working class students.

Now, we must expand that idea to all public colleges & universities.
