We are not to Christmas yet, which is the barometer as to when teams normally start to coalesce and become their real form, but some themes seem to have become more clear. Thunder and Spurs are very good and can survive injuries to stay good. We kind of knew that already.

Dear NBA Santa Claus, for Christmas, if I had one wish, it would be to please give us a Blazers and Thunder playoff series. Thank you.

If I had two wishes, the first one, of course, and then send Trae Young and New Orleans first and NAW to Minnesota so All-NBA Jalen continues and ANT comes home.

Ok, who are the injury guys to watch in the next week? Who knows, but if you have a spot to add a project like KPJ, I would suggest doing that.ilwaukee's role players have been really inconsistent, but AJ Green is starting to pop and I think KPJ is worth the investment at this point.

Pistons keep finding a way by limiting Cade's earlier minutes so that he has the gas and decision-making left to finish well. He and Duren were defended in the PnR better than anyone outside of Cleveland has this year. Pistons clearly were not this good in the non-Cade minutes the last few years.

This is game 5 and the Bulls still look really good. Great ball movement. Push the pace on everything. Deep rotation. Challenge most things on defense. Knicks are definitely not in peak form, but they look tired and beat here in the first half tonight.

Truly the exact opposite handling of the games by the refs. In the first half of each game, all four teams played similar defense except one game got called the opposite of the other and what we learned is, calling less fouls is more palatable. Also, the amount of whining in Game 2 is elite.

If this first game is any indication of what the NBA season is about to look like, then you can expect fans to look the other way more often. Freedom of movement is gone on opening night and we should expect nothing but holding and grabbing like it's the NBA Finals for 82 games. That's a pass.

We are so close to taking out every single person of real NBA interest in Summer League and after tomorrow, there may be less than 20 left. Half of those will be playing for Brooklyn. The real question now becomes who is most committed to building a winning culture to win the Summer
league belt.

Imagine trading for Kyle Kuzma instead of Tobias Harris......

Does Memphis win 50 games next year with Trae starting 80 games for them instead of Ja? Honestly, I am leaning towards yes. Combo or Trae and Pippen is a great situation to capitalize on lob threat bigs.

Cade and Ivey are still out for Detroit, while Strus and Jerome are both out for Cleveland. That seems like an equivalent problem for both teams. Detroit bench possibly able to make some gains tonight, but can't get killed when the first unit is out there.

This is the perfect time to bring up how important it is to buy books and collect all the knowledge you can while you still can. Libraries are on the chopping block and anything on the internet is likely to become fair game very soon.

Lots of interesting takes on how to manage fantasy basketball at this time of year. Daily is probably the only fun way to do it once "silly season" begins (which it definitely has after OKC joined last night). Now we start to see what the future of the league might look like with opportunity.

There is absolutely nothing negative coming from the NBA CrunchTime broadcast. For all of the negativity that we get from media around the NBA, the glaze is crazy, but adds to the fun in a good way. Hope the NBA continues to amplify voices and opportunities to celebrate the good stuff.

It's a 3-pointer game! Let's look at where each player lies in the 3-pointer landscape.

Is there anything surprising here?

Likely going to be a very dry start to basketball week, with the only Wednesday game being between two teams who recently completed, then cancelled a trade they made at the deadline. Will the Lakers bring Alex Len into the big man rotation consistently? Is Mark Williams ready to play now? Fun stuff.

I think everyone knew that if you put Wemby, Shai, and Jokic on the floor together, they were going to win. Looked like the blue squad knew it too. Still some fun basketball. Could stretch it to 50 for sure, but probably pretty hard to organize a group of entirely young guys on that team.

If you aren’t having fun just watching this all-star game, then I don’t think this product is for you. Turn the sound off and enjoy some of the best doing their thing. The Cade hesitation and then block from Wemby combo was amazing. Herro is just on a different planet this year.
