Government wd hv to come out and say that the whole board has failed, get them all to resign and then push their own people onto a new board, who would then appoint a new DG. You would have to have balls of steel to put up with the attacks from RW media but I think it would be worth it long term.

It’s not at all clear to me how the BBC can do any kind of serious journalism if its top two bosses can be forced to quit over such an obviously confected scandal. There is no substantive error here. How can the BBC report on Trump, or Farage, or anyone else, in these circumstances?
