My favourite part of reading books is how I end up adding 2-3 books to my reading list <3

A fun conversation getting to my improv class where a friend asked me:

- "wow, you're so brave riding your bike!"
- "hum, why?"
- "well, downtown is so busy at this time"
- "well, that's true if you're driving a car which I am not 😅. The bike lanes are great"
- "you're still brave!"

Almost one year ago, I started moving away from Google. It's finally done: deleted my Google account.

Saying goodbye to tech evil (no more Amazon, Twitter, Goodreads, WhatsApp, etc.). It's a bit hard to do this completely because the list keeps increasing constantly 🫠 but doing my best.

I haven’t seen it illustrated like this before. Very effective messaging. Of course it actually depends a lot on how fast the vehicle’s being driven, how big the vehicle is and how it’s designed, and how small the victims (too often kids) are. Via @yegbike.bsky.social #SpeedKills #CarBloat

“We found there’s this perfect one-to-one relationship. If a city increased its road capacity by 10% then driving in that city went up by 10%.” Still one of the best articles on why building bigger roads leads to more cars stuck in the same congestion. Understanding #InducedDemand Via @wired.com
What's Up With That: Building Bigger Roads Actually Makes Traffic Worse
The concept is called induced demand, which is economist-speak for when increasing the supply of something (like roads) makes people want that thing even more. Though some traffic engineers made note ...

The main reason why I never offload cognitive thinking to LLMs is that frictiontless output is a pernicious trap. Seems smart, but long term it's you who becomes replaceable. If the use case is to speed up useless work, it's a sign to change your life, not how you produce something to the society.

"This is the economy now. Not a distribution of opportunity. A redistribution of friction. But friction isn’t the enemy!!!! It’s information. It tells us where things are straining and where care is needed and where attention should go."

Over the past few months, I decided to "retire" from online community work. My interests have changed a lot and I decided to direct that focus into building meaningful and local connections with my community.

I am now participating more in local communities and it's making me happier.
