The GOP bill, a direct product of President Donald Trump’s decade-long obsession with illegal voting, would require documentary proof of citizenship for voter registration, bar states from counting late-arriving mail ballots, and dramatically infringe on states’ authority to run elections.

@bencarlson007.bsky.social Ben I admire your optimism & I love the show but congress will not take the keys away because they willfully support whatever he does. He said it himself, he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and not lose his support. This is not a normal presidency or a both sides thing.

@downtownjoshbrown.bsky.social just listened to what are your thoughts. You guys discuss how it’s a risk politically for Trump to focus on tariffs because it may take awhile, and he could be out of office before the benefits can be realized. He has said before that we will not need to vote again.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

If you thought Trump and his sycophants have forgotten about elections, you are wrong. The GOP voter suppression and election subversion war machine is already preparing for the next election.

Trump can call me names but the truth remains. He is an unhinged wanna be dictator who is angry that I beat him in court and won't cower in fear. Now he is weaponizing the federal government against his political opponents.

I will not back down.
I will not bow or scrape.
I will never obey.
Trump name-checks Marc Elias and says he tried to turn American into a communist nation (big, if true)

Trump is simply not thoughtful. Regardless of politics it’s better to have a thoughtful person in charge.

It’s interesting how the term “alt-right” has all but disappeared as they have become the norm in the party.

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races.

This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.

What Republicans are pushing for are not "reforms." They want to make it harder for people to vote and easier for the GOP to cheat. If they enact new voter suppression and election subversion laws, we will sue and we will win. www.npr.org/2025/01/13/n...
Despite Trump's win, 'election integrity' activists still seek sweeping voting changes
