Owls are often #LookingAtYou when you are looking at them. #BirdOfTheDay 🪶

Barred Owls and Great Horned Owls are both fierce hunters, capable of pushing out rivals. When other birds, including corvids, warblers and thrush see these fluffy predators they will very vocally make it known!

What a beautiful young owl! 🪶 Here is a photo I managed to get of our neighborhood juvenile Great Horned Owl earlier this year. Its location was given away by a bunch of crows making a ruckus. Stayed long enough for me to grab my camera.

I have been reading a book about photographic #composition this weekend, but so many of the concepts and tactics I feel like I have always known innately. 📷☀️ I snapped this photo because I was drawn to the scene, but only after realized the almost perfectly horizontal contrail above the pylons.
Pylon remnants of an old boat dock stretch out into a lake. The sun is low in the south, shining over a contrail which crosses the blue sky, parallel to the pylons. These leading lines draw you to the trees and houses on the opposite side of the lake. General ripples extend across the water.
