Incredible seats to see Midori tonight at Sixth and I. We've seen her twice at Kennedy Center but this smaller venue is a real treat.

Summer by Edith Wharton seems like a perfect book for this humid day. It's one I hadn't heard of so I'm looking forward to diving in.

Lovely shadow on the tree. That ribbon shape has become iconic.

Here's what I read in January. A Reckoning was a devastating read that I'll be thinking about for a long time. The Bright Sword was a fun Arthurian read and I'm always up for that. The Solnit and Arendt books are important for the times. A good month.

Everything continues to be awful but I received some lovely book mail today. I took advantage of the sale @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social and am looking forward to a Gorey fest.

We've gotten about 3 inches of snow so far with several hours to go. I'm not complaining - I love snow!

Fountain pen folks, I've had these two Waterman and one Aurora pens since the 90's (models in alt text but I'm doing it from memory so I could be wrong). All still write beautifully but I've been conservative in my inks and now want to try something new. How do these hold up to shimmering inks?

Here's what I read in January. Trying to read more from my shelves in February (although I'm eternally grateful for the library).

A gentle reminder to new users that you should be adding alt text to your images. It's easy to do and will increase the odds that others will share your images.

Based on a recommendation from @stuckinabook.bsky.social I gave this as a gift to the women in my book group and it was a hit! I'm looking forward to settling down with these stories.
