So do you think we should bring back the workhouse and shove old people in it because they haven’t paid for their pensions.
The flaw in your argument is that people should therefore have to pay for the NHS once retired because, they are no longer currently providing revenues.

The State Pension is an entitlement not a benefit.
It is also the worst state pension of the developed world. We could afford this pension if we didn’t give benefits to the uber wealthy via tax breaks.

Comparisons with the 1930’s are actually a warning from history. We see the events in the US with far right appointees of the state using the same rhetoric (as indeed is being used here by “activists”) with “othering“ and concentration camps for “undesirables” so must take that warning or else.

I doubt very much that the local people are responsible as suggested by one of the locals interviewed. Therefore you have to question the motives of those who choose to come into the area and do that.
