If the EU had done a blanket ban on all targeted advertising this would not have been the result. If Meta don't want to play by European rules they need to go and be replaced by other platforms.

In Hungary, it looks as if Meta's decision to end political advertising in Europe (announced late July) led to a significant increase in activity by Fidesz and its supporters/allies.
