Amazing to hear Abdullah Ibais speak in person as a free man after spending years in a Qatari prison for refusing to lie about striking workers, while working on the World Cup.

“FIFA did nothing at all… They ghosted me”

A brave, humble and free man.

All French journalism schools unite to ask for the liberation of football journalist Christophe Gleizes, who has now been imprisoned for three months by the Algerian authorities, who accuse him of "glorifying terrorism" among other trumped-up charges. #FreeGleizes

Stand Up to Racism’s statement on the horrific antisemitic attack at a Manchester synagogue today
We condemn the horrific antisemitic attack on Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in north Manchester, that killed two people.
This attack is particularly abhorrent as it occurred on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish religious calendar. Antisemitism must be rooted out of society.
Our deepest condolences go to the loved ones of those killed. Our thoughts are also with all those injured and affected by this horrific crime.
It's vital that we promote peace, unity and mutual respect and stand together against hatred and division at this difficult time.

Amnesty has written to call on FIFA and UEFA to suspend the Israeli FA until clubs from illegal settlements are excluded from its leagues.

While football supports Israel’s occupation, over 800 athletes & sports officials in Gaza have been killed in its genocide.

When historians look back on the collapse of the United Kingdom into both farce and fascism, this headline will be used to explain a lot.

In recent weeks, Saudi authorities have renewed efforts to displace residents of al-Muwaila village, part of the area earmarked for Neom.

Schools have been shut, forcing families to send children to Duba, 47km away.

And residents have been warned to evacuate or face power and water cuts.

"Human dignity is not a commodity"

We @amnesty.org call on companies to pull the plug on supporting Israel's genocide, apartheid and occupation - none of which would be possible without the arms, surveillance equipment, bulldozers and cash they provide.

A reminder that the majority of British people support welcoming refugees in a controlled and humane way.

The minority view is emboldened, dangerous and could grow. But most of the country is ready to hear a message that offers humane solutions, if not patronised or ignored.

More in Common have produced research on attitudes to deporting people who come in small boats, uninvited, by characteristics.

A sixth of people support Farage (and now Conservative) policy in all the cases.

A quarter will deport genuine refugees.

Most will remove those without a refugee claim

Djed Spence likely to become England's first full international football cap with a Muslim faith.

"It's a blessing - it's just amazing. I don't have the words really ... Not just Muslim kids, any child of any faith. Put your mind to something and you can do it."

The organisation she leads - The Angelou Centre - has launched a new project using art to help women heal, and a new report outlining their experiences and the failures of authorities ro listen to minoritised women.

It’s exceptional. Please read and share.

This is my brilliant wife explaining how she and the women she works to support in the north east still feel deep fear of racist violence from the riots last year - and the continuing hate. It’s a humbling read.

I contributed to this Guardian analysis by Kiran Stacey

Farage speaks for one quarter of the public with no sympathy at all for asylum seekers or refugees. But Starmer will only hold the Labour coalition together if he can speak to both control and compassion.

Famine as a weapon of war in Gaza and Sudan - “a grim example of twin themes of this moment: indifference and impunity”.
