The Apollo Theatre, Stockport Road, Ardwick, photo from 1950. Opened in 1938, it was originally a cinema/theatre and also had dance hall and café. Countless memorable gigs have taken place here in recent decades.

On this day in 1982, we were watching The Jam at Birmingham's Bingley Hall. Great concert, but tinged with sadness as they only had two more shows to play after this one. Here's my ticket
