If I was a scientist I wouldn’t let myself be used to prop up the slop, but some of them insist. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Truly, truly. When that closing driving sequence seems like it will fade to black there's that one extra lingering shot... wistful af

Watched it again today for the first time in several years and it's newly revelatory in just how much it affected/changed me. Jeez, what a picture

I've researched this every six months for years and usually come back to that.

We're doing the intranet of things 💪

Well change of plans. I just got a 925 for ~$410 after a 20% off with PayPal promo. I'd end up spending more building my own and I want to try the Synology Drive software to replace my $10/month to Google cloud.

Getting 0 or 3 copies of the letter I press is worth it to be a device hoarder 👹
stupid young people, stop buying a new phone every year if you don't want to be broke. wait no, not like that.

yes I should specify tv news
November 25, 2025 at 3:47 AM
Miiight build my own since people say the Synology ones are overpriced. Either way I'd be taking my externals out of their housings and putting the bare drives in the NAS internally
November 24, 2025 at 4:57 PM
Yeah, and if you’ve got SSDs you have fewer problems to solve than me. I have these slow mechanical HDs spinning. But I need the space
November 24, 2025 at 4:38 PM
And depending on RAID setup in the NAS, it could stream faster. Although I don’t think crazy speeds are needed for 4K
November 24, 2025 at 4:30 PM
Yes, in fact Plex or whatever could run on the NAS itself since it’s a computer
November 24, 2025 at 4:29 PM
This is for my life’s photo/video work but I’m also thinking about ripping 4Ks for Plex
November 24, 2025 at 4:26 PM
So I’ll have my first copy directly attached, and my 2nd copy in the NAS, which gets it off my desk and accessible from other devices. And have Backblaze keep a third copy.
November 24, 2025 at 4:25 PM
The NAS would still be in my house but I’d still want an offsite service (Backblaze) for three total copies in service of a 3-2-1 backup strategy 🤓

Backblaze allows unlimited storage for directly attached HDs, but not network attached HDs, which in my 20 TB case would make it 15x more expensive.
November 24, 2025 at 4:21 PM
Network attached storage. Basically a 2nd computer that's like a personal cloud that can be removed from my sight
