In other words, she thinks CBS needs to make sure the story is delayed until the Warner merger completes and is watered down to appear less damning to the administration.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

NYT shows how Bari Weiss really screwed this up.

She didn't attend any of the 5 screenings of the story, which began on Dec. 12.

She only first weighed in on Thursday, and the show incorporated her suggestions.

She then waited until weekend to ask for more edits.

Wait. I thought Weiss said this was an old story and the 60 Minutes segment didn't add anything new. If so, then why the concerted effort to scrub it from the internet?

This is stunning. Blanche is claiming, with a straight face, that the only federal prison where a convicted sex offender can adequately be protected from other inmates just so happens to be a minimum security prison that gives her puppy playdates.

Truly preposterous.
WELKER: Why was Ghislaine Maxwell moved just days after you interviewed her?

BLANCHE: That's a Bureau of Prisons security issue that I will not talk about

WELKER: Did you have anything to do with it?

BLANCHE: I am responsible for the Bureau of Prisons, so every decision they make lands on my desk

If they added Miller to the CECOT piece after initially refusing an interview, he would take the opportunity to lie and lash out. 60 Minutes would have to edit out the nonsense, and Trump would then sue CBS again.
Doing another piece with Miller later is fine, but to add him here after the administration declines to officially have any comment is a suck up gimme. The real word we are looking for here is complicit.

Hours before 60 Minutes was set to air a story on deportees who were sent by the Trump administration to prison in El Salvador, describing “brutal and torturous conditions,” 60 Minutes announced that it has pulled the segment and will air it in the future.

This is a powerful message that I hope spreads far and wide this Christmas season.

Hegseth may think he's Saruman, but the men and women of the U.S. armed forces are not his Uruk-hai.

I don't buy the justification for bombing boats in international waters. It's just plain murder. The administration says we're in an "armed conflict" with Venezuela because they're smuggling drugs, but if drugs were "arms," wouldn't they be protected by the 2nd amendment?
December 2, 2025 at 5:13 AM
This is the video that Hegseth wants to use to court martial Senator Kelly. Reminding service members that their oath to the Constitution requires them to refuse *illegal* orders is not "sedition."
We want to speak directly to members of the Military and the Intelligence Community.

Kudos to ABC. More like this please. The reporter asked appropriate questions about the Epstein files (and Khashoggi in another clip) and got the "terrible reporter" bullying in spades.
Reporter: Mr. President, why wait for congress to release the Epstein files? Why not just do it now?

Trump: It's not the question that I mind. It's your attitude… I think the license should be taken away from ABC. We have a great commissioner, a chairman who should look at that.
