I thought Ramsey would’ve played more. He was ahead of Willock early season, but has slipped back. Suggests he isn’t pulling up any trees in training.
I still don’t see fatigue being an excuse for our currrent woes. Possibly lack of time on the training pitch due to our schedule is.

From what I’ve seen of Murphy, bringing him on would definitely be risky. Neave not getting minutes in some games (eg Everton) is a shout, but then we had Ramsey/Willock/Gordon to bring on in that one. Results have not been assured enough to risk it unfortunately.

Well, we won’t be winning at Old Trafford because I’m going to that one. Only ever seen us win FA Cup semis there live.

Joelinton’s been poor all season anyway, I would’ve wanted Miley to start even if he was fit. Sandro has been off form for the past month.
Anyway, it’s academic, we’ll never know if it would’ve made a difference or not.

Nah, too early. Strap in for the winning run.

We’ve been resting players, we’ve been rotating all season. Our worst player, Elanga, didn’t play a minute Wednesday night. It might’ve made a difference, it might not. But the major issue was our lack of attacking quality all game and that’s not freshness related.

Or it could be this season’s Brentford away. It all looks very bleak in the short term, it could look very different (or worse, of course) in the longer term.

We weren’t saving our legs for the derby, we were writing off the League Cup, which we did every season under Ashley. We were also playing Arsenal. We’d have done the same if we were home to West Brom the next game.

Got to be in it to win it. If we get through to the latter stages of the CL & we are having an away day in the Bernabéu, losing by a single freak goal in the SOS will seem like a distant memory.
I’ve seen NUFC win, lose & draw against the Mackems many times. It’s new experiences I want as a fan.

Yes, it would see unlikely given how the first part of the season has gone.
But I don’t see a fatigued team like we had a couple of years ago. I see a lost, fragile one lacking confidence & belief. I don’t think inviting a battering on the European stage would’ve done much to improve that.

It’s the most important game for a relatively short amount of time. It shouldn’t define a season. During Man City’s treble winning 22-23 season they lost away to Man Utd. It happens. Happened rather too much for us in recent memory, which makes it worse. But fundamentally it’s three points lost.

Face the consequences? Are you seriously suggesting he be sacked for not throwing a CL away game? Even if he had, was it really tiredness that cost us today?
We aren’t qualified, there’s no guarantee we beat PSV and getting a result away to PSG is a tall order.

But we don’t have that luxury, either in the number of personnel to do it nor the position in the league or CL.
December 14, 2025 at 7:10 PM
We haven’t been playing the same 11? Made two changes from Wednesday, made about four from Sat to Wed, made six or something for the Burnley game…
If anything, I’d say the lack of a settled starting 11 is hurting us (not that it’s going to work either doing that, playing twice a week every week).
December 14, 2025 at 6:48 PM
Maybe, and I’m really trying to be positive, Wissa can come in an suddenly everything starts to click from that perspective.
As low as it feels, still only 4 points from CL places - the rest of the league is not flying, if we can just get our sh*t together we can take that gift.

I didn’t have an issue sitting deep early doors today, but without that working attacking option you can’t then either counter attack effectively or suddenly turn up the heat when the opposition burns through their early adrenaline.
We’ve only really battered one team and Pickford helped us out.

Miley did so well second 45, plus the doubt over Joe’s fitness, I’m not really surprised to see him in.
December 14, 2025 at 12:48 PM
True. Fundamentally, we need a new keeper. I think Pope edges the fight for me when he’s fit.
December 10, 2025 at 10:08 PM
One positive is that we are only one behind and we have MANY gears we can move through (plus bench options). Must do better.
