This is a powderkeg that the Trump Administration recklessly, unpatriotically seems to be escalating rather than de-escalating.

Newt Gingrich is making comparisons to the nullification crisis and Civil War.

He's not wrong. But it's not the states who are rushing us headlong toward this crisis.

My first take was WTF is this.

My second was gratitude for how he has visually separated his presidencies from all the others, asserting this is not how things are supposed to be.

Quiet part out loud.

And you're dreaming in Düsseldorf if you think we're a NATO partner by 2028.

Returning to Metropolitan on @tcmtv.bsky.social this Christmas I am left wondering how @whitstillman.bsky.social understood the privileged, forlorn nostalgia of Trad culture and MAGA so well in 1990.

Father James Altman, a MAGA Catholic priest who has lost some of his canonical faculties because he cannot be obedient or prudent, is more bloodthirsty than a presbyter ought to be.

Also, he is a moron.

One day Donald Trump will die.

I think I will write about him here in his own style every day for a year to memorialize the event.

It will be the period of mourning he deserves.

That's not the presidency.

The problem is us.

Have you ever seen these two people in the same place at the same time?

Last month I led some CTU students through the Basilica of the Natl Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in DC, a place I've known well for >30yrs.

We ended with The Holy Family Resting by Anna Hyatt Huntington, a piece I love so much for its realism I have a replica here at home.

The students...

If a "stable government" is the measure, no one should let an American in anyplace.

Good example of an apples-oranges problem. Cars don't take spots with them, I could run 3 errands in an hour when other cars don't move, need 3 spots.

I know a lot of ppl are agnst cars. Deceptive uses of data are a bad way to tilt at that windmill.

Catholics for Catholics are pretty cheerful about public sinner RFK, Jr. whose intrinsically evil adultery should scandalize them.

"Don't spill a drop," they seem instead to say, as though they were the canyon for his river.
