Far be it from me to tell your wife she’s wrong: I wouldn’t dream of telling my own that after 35 years.

…to buy a £120k microscope so the finest brain surgeons in the world at St. George’s - Europe’s largest teaching hospital - can see those tumours more clearly when they operate.

It’s not fucking good enough.

I’m not advocating their system: but their treatments for things like cancer are a long way clear of ours. So what I’d like to see is understand why outcomes are better in other countries and learn from it. The NHS isn’t delivering the world’s best outcomes so how can we make it so so?

They wouldn’t have done the MRI. We’re incredibly poor at doing any of these tests unless patients push for them.

Bizarrely America is miles ahead of us on treatments and care: a client collapsed with heart problems in the US. A standard MRI picked up cancer on a kidney. That just wouldn’t happen in the UK.

Now I’m not saying we should copy the American model but we should demand more of our health outcomes.

Button was gloriously lucky. The whole Brawn double diffuser was a fantastic story. A team coming from absolutely nowhere to win a world championship. And then eventually became Mercedes Petronas.
