I’m so happy to see Judge Gibson earn recognition as Utahn of the Year. Many judges throughout the United States (ones serving below the level of the U.S. Supreme Court, that is) have been instrumental in protecting democracy, and Gibson is one of them. www.sltrib.com/opinion/comm...

We are not at war with Venezuela, yet. The boats are civilian craft. The U.S. criminal code does not maintain a death penalty for drug smuggling. Due process is required before conviction or sentence.

All of the 80 people killed thus far are wanton murders slain under illegal orders. All of them.

Good news from the Supreme Court today! I'm not surprised; although there are certainly some justices interested in reversing Obergefell, the Kim Davis dispute is for legal reasons not the best avenue for doing so. Here’s something I learned yesterday while researching for my Substack: YouGov regularly updates a list of the most famous American; Charlie Kirk didn’t make the most recent list, meaning that most Americans hadn’t even heard of him until he died. www.stillmoretosay.com/p/charlie-ki...

I heard “This is not who we are” multiple times yesterday while listening to Salt Lake City radio news. The problem is that this _is_ who we are. We have some of the most lax gun laws in the country, and the best explanation is that we care more about gun “rights” than we do about potential victims.
